Why do some guys who are losing their hair still insist on having a combover?

We've all seen them, the guys who think it looks cool to spread long, thin strands of what is left of their hair, carefully over their balding pate! Don't they realize it looks far worse than facing up to being bald and accepting it?

Another bad look is the bald head at the front, with a ponytail at the back!

Come on combover guys the style police are on the look out!

I am not certain why men choose to do the comb over rather than shaving their head bald or atleast cutting their hair very short.

Two things come to mind.

A. They have no style, which can be common. They need someone to step up and kindly explain that it does not look good and suggest an alternative so it does look better.

B. They may be experiencing sadness in regards to losing their hair. They may be in denial. Somewhere in their mind they may think holding on to the hair will keep them from balding. They may be afraid of losing their hair and being bald. Although it is inevitable, one may think they are keeping their hair longer by hiding the bald spot and wearing a comb over.

PS, to men who are wearing a comb over, it looks better to simply embrace a bald head. Women do think a bald head can be sexy and either way, it does indeed look better than the comb over.

I agree that the comb over looks terrible. It's much better to just accept the baldness than to have the long stringy strands of hair combed over to cover the scalp. What's worse is when the wind blows and the hair goes all over the place. I would shave my head instead of doing that. As for the ponytail when one's hairline is receding, I don't like that either. I also think the extra facial hair when balding is a bad look. Maybe it's just me, but it seems that the less hair a man has on the top of his head, the more hair he has on his face or down the back. Even a toupee would look better than any of the hairstyles mentioned in your question.
