Hi Culverc!

Power Balance bracelets were created by brothers Josh and Troy Rodarmel. The bands are embedded with performance technology using holograms embedded with frequencies that react positively with the body’s natural energy field to improve balance, strength and flexibility. The holograms are designed to resonate with and positively interactive with the natural frequencies of the human body to improve athletic performance. This is a similar concept to those behind many eastern alternative medical philosophies. The bands are worn by some of the best athletes in the world across many different sports. Notable wearers of the bands include the National Basketball Association’s Shaquille O’neal, Major League Baseball’s Scott Kazmir, and National Hockey League’s Teemu Selanne among many others who believe the band helps their performance. The bands are not without their critics who believe that the technology does not produce the advertised effects. Many reports have surfaced questioning the products claims and the tests done to prove their effectiveness. Specifically, the lack of scientific evidence of the products ability to resonate body frequencies, especially since different areas and organs of the body function at different frequencies at different times. Josh Rodarmel himself states that each person will have a different experience with the band and the results will greatly vary from person to person. Reviews for the product on Amazon.com, which sells for around $30 - $60, have been generally negative. I personally know several people who wear the bands regularly, and when asked if they have any effect, I am usually told “kind of” or “I think so” but have never heard anyone state definitively that they have experience positive results.
