Apart from just wanting to share videos to the public, some video up-loaders expect to receive a large audience in return and also (if possible) be able to market themselves (especially the talented ones) to future sponsors.
These past years, most companies have also bought into the idea of video marketing and now use YouTube videos to promote, market and create awareness for their products and services.
As for the psychological aspect, I do not think there is a website or forum that talks about that now, probably in the nearer future , because , there are some videos , whose owners may really need help.

M$Many people post strictly for entertainment purposes. Maybe they have a group of followers that they interact with and like to post comments on each others videos. Maybe the person if a fan of a certain entertainer and posts any and all videos they can of that person on their page. It's a way for them to show their fan loyalty to them and share with other fans.
You mention the psychologial aspect of people who post videos on YouTube. Some videos are quite disturbing, as are their comments. I do believe that some will upload just for attention and do have some psychological issues. I am not sure if there are any statistics as to how many people have issues that post videos on YouTube.
