Why do people ask "How are we doing?". Are they included in that question?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Because that is there way of saying hello
People wanting to get to know us.
It is like shakeing hands.

And some people do push it with the how are you doing question.
Because sometimes we really want to tell them how we are doing
like when we are haveing a bad day at work and a person ask you
how are you doing .You at that point want to rip off his our her head
but thay dont know how you are feeling and maby when thay ask
you how you are doing . thy might not be feeling that good to thy
could be haveing a bad day to.

I think it's just a stupid expression. They mean how are you doing, but they think it's cute to say it that way.

I'm not sure what context you're talking about. I'm guessing that it's a situation where it's really about you, and not them. For instance, if you're a student in a class and working on a project, the teacher may come up and ask, "How are we doing?"

Although it's really your project or issue, it's a way for the other person to mean, "How are you doing? And by the way, I'm here to help you." If meant sincerely, it's a very empathetic question.

When I ask that, I'm really talking asking "How is our relationship going?" and the implication for me is: "What can I do to improve our relationship?" and "How are you going to improve our relationship?"

It is funny you ask that question. I do not think people are including themselves when they ask "How are we doing today?". I think they are just use to ask the question in that way.

They say this because they would like to think they are part of what you are doing.

I LOVE IT! Who asks you that? I know of a pediatrician who would always say "We" instead of "you" or "I". He just thought in PLURAL!
