Why do I keep getting asked to login to http://wintermute.iheartcashews.com?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I believe it is just a technical glitch and not a hijack. Remember, this is Mahalo Answer's first day in the real world--bound to be a few glitches!

I got this too, so I did a google search. It appears it has something to do with a greasemonkey script, so I think it may only affect people who use Firefox with greasemonkey installed? I closed Firefox, reopened Mahalo and logged in right away - before clicking on an individual question - and it seems to have gone away.

I use Firefox on Linux without GreaseMonkey. I got this same popup when I redirected from TechCrunch. It forced me to close my browser. It appears to be something related to Mahalo:

Heya, folks...I'm Chris, one of the tech team. This was an issue on our side...it's not a security hack or a phishing attempt. We're cleared it out now, and we're purging all the places where it might have been cached.

If you are still getting this, please contact me via the feedback email address, and I'll work with you to clear it out. Clearing your local cache will help.

Thanks for your patience!

Block-it with adblock. That login window will go away.

Yeah, I was worried about it, too. I think it might be a site hijack also (agree with the above commenters. so I didn't enter my info. Hope someone figures it out soon and fixes it.

I did enter my info into it, without really thinking about it. Should I be worried? I use Mac OS so I don't use a virus blocker. Uh oh.

I get it too. Looks shady like a site-hijack to me.

Sounds like your browser may have been hijacked by some malicious program. You may want to look into installing an anti-virus program.

Some tips are here: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1579&page=4

Yeah, I didn't enter anything into it. I refreshed the page and did what I was trying to do. (I was answering a question) I'm sure they will get it fixed ASAP.
