Why do I continue to receive updates from @mrskutcher, even though I stopped following her? (Follow was by mistake to begin with!)

The work-around is following and immediately unfollowing.
And may I add, delete your cache and cookies before doing the work around. it might help.

If she is the only person you're receiving updates for that you've clicked "stop following," I would try going to her twitter page in another browser and seeing if you can unfollow her there. Sometimes the cookies get messed up in one browser and if you try it in another one it will clear up the problem.
If that still doesn't work, try going to her page (http://twitter.com/mrskutcher) and click "block @mrskutcher." If that STILL doesn't work, I'd contact Twitter and see if they can help with it.
