Why do companies do customer surveys?

What is the purpose of doing customer surveys? Do companies really use the info they get in customer surveys?
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Companies do customer surveys so they can see where their business is following into place. For instance, if consumers are liking their products, getting the results for surveys can let the company know which part of the business they are lacking on so they can improve it to get more sales.
