Why did you get your tattoo? If you have more than one which is your favourite? Include a picture for extra credit.
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

My first tattoo was a sun on my ankle that i got just after I turned 16 (the legal age here with a parent). I had to beg for ages before my parents allowed me to get it.. I started asking early.. LONG before my birthday. It didn't really have any meaning other than I thought it was cool, it was a picture I found on the internet and I WISH I still had an electronic picture of it. It was basically like, a black circle with the flames around the outside, and the center sort of looked the same way a bubble looks, or like oil on water.. Like pink and green and blue swirls.. it's hard to find a picture of what I mean, but it was EXTREMELY awesome. It was just supposed to be the outline and those oil colors and swirls and then some sort of skin colored spaces (not the entire background filled in).. Kind of like this http://hobbyscience.com/images/bubble1.jpg .. It's so hard to explain what I mean.
ANYWAYS, I went to get it, and it took about 45 minutes. I zoned out after about 10. I went to an artist that was regarded as one of the best in the city. I looked down when it was done... and it was ALLL wrong. They filled the entire thing in yellow (I HATE yellow) and the middle basically just had a few random lines of color through it. It was NOT pretty. Of course I liked it at first buttt it just wasn't what I wanted.
Here is a picture (sorry, it's not too clear)

The colors in the outside ring are.... nearly right. But the rest is pretty mutilated.
So about 2 years ago I just got mad at it and went and got it re--colored by my new artist. I let him do whatever he wanted. Again, the picture is not great, but here it is

Its still much sloppier and not right but I don't think it's getting much better than that.

Tattoo # 2
The flower on my foot. I got it just after my 18th birthday (so without my parents knowing) and they were not too pleased. I really love the design, done by the same guy that recolored my first tattoo. Unfortunately, because of where it is, It fades FAST and I've had to get it recolored like 3 times now, and it's due to be touched up again. It also suffered a scar from ill-fitting shoes that gave me a blister, but overall it's still good. Hurt like hell which sucks when it has to be touched up so often. Again, I got it just because I liked it but I had my artist custom draw it rather than find a picture. I'm thinking about a way to expand it up my foot more, but I'm not sure how.
(It's hard to get a good picture because of how it wraps around)

Alright, #3. It's in progress. It's an asian theme. I'm basically addicted to Japanese culture... My room is full of fans and paper lanterns and painting of japanese flowers and hand painted scrolls and parasols and everything else I can find. Memoirs of a geisha is one of my favorite movies. I think everyone knows I love the theme. So my 3rd tattoo reflects that. I had my artist draw it up, but I had the basic idea; he's just a way better artist than me. I'm 2 sessions in out of 3 when my artist moved away. and I don't drive and the place he moved to and opened shop has no busses or trains running to it so It's been sitting in a state of half-finishedness since october... unfortunate really. It really freakin hurt because it's on my ribcage

Now just THE COLOR! The fan is going to be sort of an antique faded yellow/orange, the flowers will be pink and red, and the flower at the top will be blue and purple. Every time I make an appointment SOMETHING happens. First I had mono, then I had non-stop badminton tournaments, then I was sick again, and then my artist was on vacation, and then he moved and I've made several appointments and EVERY TIME something happens; my ride ditches on me or someone gets sick or whatever. I can't wait to get it finished! It's been too long!
-Sigh, all done!
On me?

It looks like its one of those 'temporary' tattoos Rob, why would you shave your back for on of those?!
lol
You are a crazy man. How many Mahalo dollars do you get for a tattoo like that?
Man, that's the sweetest ink I've ever seen!
SHAVE?!?
Real men wax

Right here is my first tattoo that I got when I was 16. It was a birthday present from my mom. It's commonly known as a trinity knot, but in Gaelic it's called a triquetra.
This next one is obviously a shamrock. I had $40 to blow and I wanted to get my tongue pierced but the woman was afraid to do it because the webbing underneath my tongue was too long... She was really full of crap. I got my tongue pierced the next summer.

And finally, my belly tat. I found a picture from an article online about a tattoo model, but I can't remember the model's name for the life of me. The tattoo reminded me of the porcelain doll my mom brought home from Ireland for me. The first picture was from when I was 17 weeks pregnant. The tattoo surprisingly didnt stretch at all.

After the baby... No stretch marks through the tattoo, just around it... which is why I didnt give a full belly shot. I'm working on it! This is 8.5 months postpartum.
My belly tat is definitely my favorite. Even though I'm still a little embarrassed to show it off since I'm not at my pre-pregnancy weight yet, its still nice to look at. =]
