Why did the D-Backs fire Bob Melvin?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

ESPN.com explained that the D-Backs wanted to "get the most out of their talented core of young players." When they fired Melvin, the team just wasn't doing very well - a low batting average; 8.5 games behind the Dodgers; injuries...lots of bad things happening to them, unfortunately.
