There were multiple pretrial hearings and lawyer changes leading to delays in the first trial, which took more than six months and ended in a mistrial by hung jury (10-2 for conviction). Over a year later, the second trial began; it lasted an additional six months before ending in a "guilty" verdict. Phil Spector's money bought lawyers and time, but that's all.
