Annie Lennox did wear a shirt that read HIV POSITIVE during a performance of ‘Chain of Fools’, which she sung with Aretha Franklin. This took place during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert aired on HBO. Indeed many of her fans were panicked and concerned that she had tested positive for the virus known to cause AIDS. However, Lennox has not been diagnosed with HIV. She just goes to great, ongoing efforts to raise awareness and alertness about HIV and AIDS.

This is not unusual for singers and other celebrities. Many people probably remember the shirts that Gap started from the “Red” line to raise AIDS awareness. Many celebrities could be found wearing these.

This is actually very smart of her. Nothing stirs up awareness for a cause better than some gossip or controversy. I am happy to see that people with so much exposure to the media will put it forth to some good use. I hope to see more of this type of action from people in the media.
