Why can't you listen to local radio on the iPhone?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

You CAN listen to local radio IF the station offers the service.

Once example is Boston's WBOS 92.9 FM. They have a great iPhone / iPod Touch app (in the iTunes Store as "Radio 92.9 WBOS"). It allows you to listen to the station's live broadcast.

I enjoy listening to the station even though I live near Washington DC and only visit Boston on business (WBOS is a really good alternative rock station... check it out!).

You may want to encourage your local radio station to consider doing the same.
