Why can't we reply to comments to our answers on Mahalo Answers?

I understand that Mahalo Answers is an "Answers" site, but there is going to be a level of community. I've had a couple of answers that I have received comments or replies on, I have no method for replying back where everyone can read. The only method I would have to do this is re-answering the questions, which only addresses comments from the asker.

Is there plans to change this?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I like the current method where you reply to the same comment they did. I've done that a few times. Sure, it's not perfect, but it does stop those infinitely nested replies, which get messy and encourage divergence from the question too much.

The way it is now tends to keep focus on the question better IMHO.

Seems like turning this into a back-and-forth forum would detract from the focus on answering the original question posted.

I tend to agree with answerman on this one. Perhaps, though, an option can be added that posts the reply but makes it private, as sort of a compromise between both trains of thought. This would avoid the answer from turning into a discussion forum, and would still provide a way to convey a reply to a specific person.

Wouldn't it however help clarifying details come out. If you just want to ignore the other answers and just do your own, you would still be able to. Having a little discussion within the answer wouldn't be a bad thing though.

You can, sort of -- reply using a second comment to the same answer, and your reply will be listed immediately after the first comment. I've used this method successfully already twice.

I guess it's not perfect - we'll try to make it more intuitive

This is a good point, it would be great to comment directly on the question itself.
