Why are there so many questions that are months old that have not gone to voting yet?
Do these questions never get best answer if the user does not decide? What happened to voting?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I've seen lots of these, too. The way I understand it is, if the one who asked the question never goes back to choose a best answer, and if there are never any votes on any of the answers, it just sits there in limbo--no best answer--indefinitely. Same thing if there's just one answer but no vote on it. Same thing if there's been voting, but there's a tie that's never broken by another vote.

Hi, have you noticed there are so many questions this last week, that aren't getting any answers at all, and seem to be from undefined people. And so many 0.25 cent tips) It seems the system has changed quite a bit, do you agree? And they haven't fixed the direct answers yet, that we complained about)
Yes, I have noticed! Lots of 25-cent tips, which isn't really that motivating, is it? I answer some if I already know the answer or can look something up quickly. It does seem like there are many more of those 25-cent tip questions now than before, and I actually thought there was a $1.00 minimum, but that was just an assumption on my part.
As far as the direct questions, I still don't see how we can find them on the site, in our profiles or elsewhere. The only difference I've noticed is that when I do get an email alert about one, I can now click through and actually see the text. But once I leave the direct question "box," I can't find a way to get back to it.
I tried to click through on mine, but nothing came out. But, they did say they were working on it! I was thinking, maybe all those 25 cent questions are via twitter, could that be it? It's sure getting harder to get tips, because a lot of questions I have answered, you never hear anything back, so they just seem to float away!
The tip value has changed many many times over the last few years. Mahalo experiments with tip value and the increase to $1 for most has been very good. The older questions were worth 25c, sometimes 10c and sometimes you'll even find questions that have no tip.
If you find heaps of expiring questions then its time to tell us all to go in there and vote :) I've had heaps of trouble logging in so I've not done my fair share lately but it looks like that might be getting fixed.
And one way to stop expiring questions is to make sure if you see a helpful answer on a question give it a vote up, especially if its an old one you've just seen. I will vote this answer up because its helpful.
