Why are there so many global warming skeptics on the Internet?

I think that the internet has given everyone the opportunity to have a voice. Those of us in the mainstream who think our opinions are already well-understood or even mostly shared aren't as loud as the people who think their opinions are not being heard or not having an effect. In lots of social situations, these folks will feel inclined to make more noise to focus attention on their issues. In the case of the internet, physical social isolation is no longer an issue and so more people can see the opinions of folks who might not normally get their say. Since they're more adamant about their opinions than those of us who are somewhat comfortable in the acceptance rate of our worldview, they seem more present. Really, they're just louder.

I should have mentioned that there are numerous science-leaning blogs out there who go out of their way to try and refute any time they see anti-creationist or anti-global warming bias. The Scientific American podcast is pretty strong on the messages, too.

For generations we have been accustomed to receiving information from centralized sources, ie Mainstream media. Dissenting and counter views were not often heard. The Internet has in many ways democratized and decentralized opinions and information in general.

Very few subjects are cut and dried or simple, decades of 'neat information' presented by the media gave us this impression. Now we are seeing larger diversity of opinion on once 'simple' subjects.

It depends on what you mean. Is the earth getting warmer? Yeah, it appears so, but is in mankind's fault? That's the real question, and I believe the answer is "no."
