Why are there Bigfoot like creatures spotted around the world, but not in Africa?
Is the geography of Africa too hostile and unforgiving for this creature?
Have there been sightings I may have missed?

Chemosit the "Devil" the "Eater of brains" is also know as "Duba (the Swahili and villages along the Tana river), Kerit, Shivuverre (Kakumega country, Kenya), Kikomba (West Africa), Koddoelo (Ngao state, Kenya), Sabrookoo (Kenya/Uganda frontier), Engargiya (Uganda), Gadett (Lumbwa district, Kenya), Ngoloko (Tanzania), Kikambangwe and Ikimizi (Ruanda)." Clearly with this many names the eyewitnesses are seeing something that has them talking.
Saying is was "just a bear" is no fun at all.

M$I find it funny that the people of Africa fear the lion and other large predators, so naturally their mythical creatures are going to look like they are from the cat family or have hyena looking attributes.
I also wonder how much cryptozoology is linked with culture or ritual?
That's a good point.

M$I think some create them out of seeking attention as many fakes have been made. I believe others see them out of things that make the mind delusional. And I think others see them because they want to. Many are in the woods in the dark and hear a noise and see a shadow and let their imaginations run. There have been so many studies done on man's visions and what they see when they want to believe and even what they don't see when they are concentrating on something else. Police Officers are actually trained in these types of situations to notice what is actually going on and seperating it from glances. In stressful situations the mind tends to run and what is a small creature turns into a seven foot monster.
Do you think man creates these creatures out of fear or out of longing...?

If I didn't know they were 'brain eaters', I'd say they're cute and cuddly!
They might seem cute and cuddley but this is what happened to the last guy that encountered one of these beasts in the wilds of Africa ;)
