Why are political primaries and elections always on tuesdays?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

It's always the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.
It's been like that since 1845 when most of the voters were farmers, the farmers wouldnt vote in the spring and summer and early fall because the farmers were all working. November was pretty much the first month people had days off.
Tuesday...because back in the 1840's it took many farmers well over a day to reach any sort of town (where they would be voting) and since many people didn't travel on Sundays, the first Monday was considered a travel day.

True. I had breakfast already, so I think better now. Primaries are elections as well. Also it's not any Tuesday of November in the case of the general elections. I added the fact that November was chosen because it's not so cold yet to compensate. :-D
"Primaries", not the elections. The second part would PARTIALLY answer the question.
I am mainly looking for info on primaries
Sorry. I does says "elections" too. My apologies, @jeffhoard (I need to get "breakfast"). And yes, as far as I've read, that's the tradition. November was pretty much the first month people had days off AND it's not so cold yet.
Primaries are elections also held on Tuesdays :)
