Why are pancakes served on Fat Tuesday? It it a French Tradition;a Catholic tradtion?
Were panacakes considered rich foods to be eaten before the fasting season of Lent?

The reason behind serving pancakes on fat tuesday's is that ,"The rich ingredients like butter,milk,sugar ,eggs etc were forbidden during the lent --making them into pancakes.

The same idea is behind the Paczki doughnuts, which my local grocery store usually has around this time of year. They're made to use up the lard, sugar, eggs, and fruit in the house before lent, and they are delicious.
