Why are Louisville basketball games televised so much more than other schools' basketball games?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The first response has some good points. I would add that such big money is made by the schools for the cable contracts. Even pro sports make huge money with these contracts. An example would be the NY Yankee's. Their cable contract is worth more than 400 million dollars to them before any tickets are even sold ! As far as Louisville I would look at the schedule. They opened the season against Georgetown and finish the last of the season playing teams like UConn, Marquette, Villanova, Seton Hall, West Virginia UNLV and Notre Dame for good measure. The cable companies get more money for advertising which is based on strong viewership-the big schools have it. Play the top dogs like the Louisville schedule reflects, and the sports cable networks will pay big for those rights with the top bidder getting the nod. It's all about money and the sports cable companies getting the biggest bang for the add dollar. This season they found it in Louisville !

It mostly depends on where you live. If you live somewhere close to Louisville, KY (within a state or 2) then most likely when they play you'll have them to watch. And plus with them being ranked where they are and being in a conference with many ranked teams the games are going to be good.
