The more popular an artist or musician, the higher the ticket prices - basic supply and demand.
I can go see Ani DiFranco for, like, twenty bucks, but Simon & Garfunkel? Forget it - I can't even think about ticket prices, because it just hurts me so deeply in my poor little soul. :)
But the most-popular artists also have the highest expenses. It costs more for an act to rent the American Airlines Center than it does to rent Grenada Theater - two venues in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. They have to charge more for tickets at AAC so that they can actually afford to put on the show.
