The Twilight Saga is a four book installment of fantasy novels written by author Stephenie Meyer. The series includes the titles The Twilight Saga: Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. To date, the first three books of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga have been made into very well-received and successful major motion pictures, based precisely on the story as described in the books. The first of the books was published in 2005, followed by each of the following three each consecutive year. Stephenie Meyer initially got the idea for the first book, Twilight, from a personal dream experience, in which a human girl and a vampire thirsting for her blood, fell in love. After sending in her manuscript to several publishing houses, Little, Brown offered her the support she was seeking and she soon signed the contract that allowed her to complete three additional books for a four book series that is now known worldwide as the Twilight Saga.

Stephenie Meyer wrote the "story" of Twilight and the "screenplay of the movie" was wrote by Melissa Rosenberg.
