Who will be the first manager to be fired this year in Major League Baseball?

With the season almost a month and a half old, there are several teams that are already suffering through disappointing starts to the season. While it may seem sort of early to be talking about a team firing their manager, there are a couple of teams who clearly thought they would get off to a better start like the Chicago Cubs who appear headed towards their second straight poor season under Lou Pineilla. There are also the Baltimore Orioles, who weren’t expected to be great, but weren’t expected to be this bad either.

Someone will most likely get fired at some point this season, baseball rarely gets through an entire season without it, who do you think will be first and why?

Wow, easy question here, Trey Hillman of the Kansas City Royals was fired recently and replaced by task manager and tough skipper Ned Yost. After Kansas got off to s poor start and wallowed in the cellar of the American League’s Central Division, management decided the time had come to make a change. Trey had compiled a 153 win and 207 loss record while skipper of the Royals, who was his first managerial challenge. In a quote from an article written by Jeff Passon, “Losing defined Hillman’s tenure in Kansas City. He came from Japan, where he led the Nippon Ham Fighters to a Japan Series championship, had a bar named after him and was feted nationwide. Here, he was just another Royals manager who couldn’t make lemons into lemonade.”. So as is typical in major league baseball, it is too hard to fire all the players so the manager must go, but in this case it must seem warranted after the number of off season acquisitions made by the Royals.

LOL, yeah I posted this a few days before Hillman got the axe. I guess I was pretty prescient.
