The 83rd Academy Awards, also known in pop culture as the Oscars is one of the most highly anticipated award events of the year in the entertainment industry. The awards ceremony also marks a very glamorous end to the well-known “awards season” in Hollywood.
This year, the organizer for the Oscars, the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences decided to make use of younger actors to host the event. This is a change from previous ceremonies where older, more established actors, usually comedians, are hired to host the event.
This year, the Academy decided to go with Anne Hathaway and James Franco as hosts of the awards. This is also a very unique year in Oscar history as one of the hosts for the ceremonies is also a nominee for the event (James Franco for 127 hours).
