One could argue the importance of quite a few Aztec gods since they all hold an important key in the survival of the culture as a whole. There were close to 1000 gods in the Aztec civilization.
Tēōtl could be one of the most revered since he was called "Aztec God", plain and simple. He was the god of gods, or the one who ran the whole show.
