Catherine Hardwick was the director responsible for the first installment of the Twilight Saga. Catherine was originally an architect and turned that into a film career as a production designer. After working on a number of big Hollywood productions she began her directing debut co-writing the independent film Thirteen. (which she wrote with Nikki Reed who also starred in Twilight) She continued her career as a director with films such as, The Lords of Dogtown and The Nativity Story, before tackling Twilight. As the director of Twilight the film received the biggest opening weekend ever by a female director. Catherine is said to have had a strong connection to the stories and Stephenie Meyer.
She continues to direct with two new films, Maximum Ride and the dark version of Red Riding Hood.
