Mahalo has a fantastic page covering this question located here: http://www.mahalo.com/susan-b-anthony
In short, Susan B. Anthony campaigned for the woman's right to vote before 1920; she was a human rights activist. She was an abolitionist who was devoted to freeing the slaves during the Civil War. She was good friends with Elizabeth Cady Stanton, another civil rights activist. She also published her own newspaper of sorts, I believe it was called “The Revolution,” which explained why African-Americans and women deserved the right to vote. She was even arrested for voting illegally. She died in 1906. She was a very courageous woman who was way ahead of her times in terms of human rights. The Mahalo page details her life quite beautifully, I encourage you to take a look.
