Who was Euclid and what did he have to do with geometry?
I've heard about Euclidean Geometry, what is it and is it any different from geometry as we know it today? Where can I find more information online or in books about all the history and definitions?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Euclid was a greek mathematician who lived around 300 B.C.
He is often considered the father of geometry - the inventor.
He wrote the book 'Elements' which was the main source in teaching math and geometry as late as till a few hundred years ago.
If you want to know more, I can recommend the Wikipedia article on Euclid, which is quite good :)

Here is a great site that offers more historical articles and even some great essay questions and theorems. http://mathforum.org/geometry/wwweuclid/
I also watched a great show on BBC about the history of mathematics and thought it was great! You can actually see it all on Youtube. Here's the first part.
