Who the heck was the guy performing with Hall & Oates on The Daily Show on Thursday, 12/11/2008?
Last night, during a tribute to Allan Colmes, Darryl Hall and John Oates performed on The Daily Show. Jon Stewart introduced them as "the best selling rock duo of all-time." Duo still means two, right? During the bit, Hall showed up first and then Oates appeared in the audience to perform. Once they started singing, this third guy showed up out of nowhere to perform with them. At first, I thought it was a joke. But it was never mentioned and no explination was given to who he was. What was weird, is that he was a "background" musician because he stood in between the two (ensuring he got the most camera time). I have a couple of theories:
(1) He is "and" in Hall and Oates.
(2) He bought the "Perform with Hall & Oates" charity auction on eBay.
(3) He was in the audience and didn't understand that the whole bit with Oates was just a joke and thought anyone in the audience who wanted to perform could.

Does anyone know?

The gentleman you are talking about is Tom "T-Bone" Wolk. He has been the bass drummer for Hall & Oats since 1981.
