who sang a day in the life?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The Beatles.

"It is the final track on the group's 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Since its original album release, "A Day in the Life" has been released as a B-side, and also on various compilation albums. It has been covered by other artists including The Fall, Bobby Darin, Sting, Neil Young, Jeff Beck, The Bee Gees, and since 2008, by Paul McCartney in his live performances. Rolling Stone magazine ranked it the 26th greatest song of all time."

Yep, it's The Beatles. John and Paul collaborated on lyrics, which were inspired by stories in the "The Daily Mirror" and other news sources. John sang the entire song except for the bridge (the "woke up, fell out of bed" part) which was sung by Paul. You can hear the voice of Mal Evans, their friend and assistant , counting off 24 bars after Paul's vocals. They used this as a reference for the orchestra that was later instructed to start at their lowest note at the beginning of the bridge and hit their highest note 24 bars later at the end.
