Who said: "It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change."
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The words you quote above were first spoken (not written) most likely during the Scopes Monkey Trial (in which Darrow channeled Darwin's way of thinking in order to defend the education of Darwin's teachings - hence the common miscredit).
It was then quoted in print in the work entitled: "Improving the Quality of Life for the Black Elderly: Challenges and Opportunities". This was a Congressional record from 1987.
Then somewhere circa 1997 (yes, this saying didn't really start to catch attention until then!) or so, some idiot with an email address and too much time started attributing the quote to Darwin, which is false. By the way, the proper quote ends with:
"...but rather the one most adaptable to change."
If you doubt the veracity of what I write, then I challenge you to read "The Origin of Species", and all of Darwin's other works. You won't find the quote anywhere in there!
