Who is your favorite player of all-time?
My all-time favorite player is Pete Press Maravich or the legendary Pistol Pete of the Utah Jazz. He was the league’s most dazzling and truly astounding guard I’ve ever seen. He is like Houdini whilst he dishes out those fancy yet dizzying assists. His ball handling is superb and a par best with best. His creativity in passing the ball was nothing but phenomenal. A generous entertainer on the court and a first class basketball player Maravich was a walking spectacle and an expert showman of all-time.
Today I’ve seen flashes of Pistol Pete’s brilliancy in Jason Williams.
And the player that can get close to him is perhaps Magic Johnson in terms of showmanship and flair.

My favorite player of all time is Dr. J, Julius Erving. I never saw him play during his ABA days, but saw his entire career with the Philadelphia 76ers. I grew up about 50 miles from Philadelphia and all the 76ers games were televised. I remember the explosiveness, high flying game that he possessed during a time when many players did not have that kind of game. I can never forget the baseline move he made against the Los Angeles Lakers during the 1980 NBA Finals. A young Brent Musburger called the play saying, "watch this fantastic move by the Doctor". Included is the video of that play. Another memorable moment was the breakaway cradle dunk over the Lakers' Michael Cooper during in 1983. That play is shown in second video. I was happy to see him finally win the NBA Championship in 1983 after the 76ers lost in 1977, 1980 and 1982. Finally, seeing him score his 30,000th professional point in his second to last NBA game at home in Philadelphia was a highlight I'll never forget. The man is a true class act and my favorite player of all time.
