Who is your favorite Artist?

Describe the style of paint, history, and why you like the art.

Provide the name of your favorite paint, sculpture, or artist work produced by the artist.
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Hisashi Otsuka. We have two of his prints, details from the 47 Ronin series. The texture, color, and history of these works is amazing. His other work is as beautiful, but we have a fondness for the Ronin.

My favorite artist is Salvador Dali, and I admit that I do not currently own any of his pieces. He is known for surrealism art. He will make a clock melt or a big giant head in the sand.

Here is more about Salvador Dali

I would say my favorite painting of his is this rose painting, but there are many that I like.

I can never think of Dali without thinking of a friends' home when I was a child. For no apparent reason (maybe to terrify us to think that God is always watching) she had his "Christ of Saint John of the Cross" over the toilet. GAH!!
But I still agree his work is beautiful!
