Gianni Versace was born on December 2nd 1946 in Reggio Calabria, Italy. He was the son of a dressmaker and as a boy helped his mother, as he got older Versace worked for several Italian designers and then on 1978 he opened his own studio in Milan with his brother Santo and sister Donatella. Gianni Versace became famous for designing flashy, sexy, beautifully cut outfits in strikingly extreme colours, patterns, fabrics, and leathers as he grew so did his business, as his empire grew it was extremely successful in men's, women's and children's clothing along with accessories, jewelry, perfume, and housewares, his company spread some 130 boutiques around the world and annual sales boomed exceeded $800 million.
Gianni Versace was killed on July 15th, 1997. It is reported that Versace was returning from a walk, as he entered the steps of his South Beach, Miami home, he was shot by Andrew Cunanan in front of his mansion. He was shot twice in the face and neck. Andrew Cunanan took his own life shortly after murdering Versace.
