Theresa Lynn Trovato Borgia of Scranton died Sunday in the Mercy Hospital Inpatient Hospice Unit following an illness. Her husband of more than 22 years is Gary Borgia.

Born in Scranton, daughter of Carmelo "Junior" and Barbara Seymour Trovato, she was a 1979 graduate of Abington Heights High School and Harcum College, Philadelphia. Before her illness, she was employed by the University of Scranton in the admissions department. Theresa was extremely active in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure , having served as chairwoman and as honorary cancer survivor in 2010. She was also active with the Jewish Community Center. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother; she was very proud of her children and was supportive and involved in all of their activities. She was an active member of Holy Rosary Church. Theresa's family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to Dr. Salvatore J. Scialla, Oncology and Hematology Group and Mercy Hospice, for the wonderful care they provided.

Also surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth and Sarah; a son, Christopher "C.J.," all at home; a brother, Alfred Trovato and wife, Kim, Dickson City; a sister, Cathie and husband, Gery Pawelzik, Clarks Summit; father- and mother-in-law, Joseph and Millie Novak Borgia, Scranton; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be Thursday from the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, 316 William St., Scranton. All attending are asked to go directly to church. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation , 300 Mulberry St. No. 305, Scranton, PA 18503.
