After he visited Jonestown, he was driven to an airstrip where he was supposed to take a plane back to Georgetown (Guyana's capital) but he and others that accompanied him were shot on the airstrip.

There have been numerous congressmen who were murdered or otherwise killed while in office. To give one example, Nathaniel Scudder was killed while resisting an invading British Army in 1781.
@drivel The question refers to US Congressman, or member of the US Congress. 1781 is 8 years before the Constitution even created the United States Congress that we know today.
Scudder was a member of the Continental Congress under the Articles of Confederation. So there was no United States Congress to speak of.
If you have evidence of your claims please cite it. But no death before the ratification of the 1789 Constitution would count.
