The biggest players in the movie industry are changing and most are part of much larger corporations with multiple divisions and studios. That said, here are the biggest six at this point in time (along with some information about each):
Warner Bros. – part of Time Warner and including such brands as New Line Cinemas, Castle Rock Entertainment, this is the largest studio at this time.
20th Century Fox – part of News Corporation this is the number two studio.
Paramount Pictures – the number three studio is part of Viacom which owns other properties such as MTV and Nickelodeon.
Colombia Pictures – part of the Sony family which also includes Tri-Star Pictures and Sony Animation
Walt Disney/Touchstone – the famous animation house bought Pixar studios recently.
Universal Studios – part of NBC Universal this is the smallest of the big six.
