Jason Katims created the NBC Comedy Drama Series Parenthood. The series evolves around one family the Braverman’s as well their subsequent individual families and their issues with raising children. The program stars, Craig T. Nelson, Bonnie Bedelia, Peter Krause, Lauren Graham, Dax Shepard and Erika Christensen.
Parenthood is based on the highly successful 1989 movie by the same name that starred Steve Martin, Mary Steenburgen and Jason Robards. Ron Howard, who also co-wrote the script for the film, directed the film. However, in the movie the focus family was known as the Buckman’s. There was another series a situation comedy based on the movie Parenthood done in 1990 which also aired on NBC. However, this version didn’t last long and was cancelled after only a few episodes aired.
