Who is the biggest failure in the world who turned out to be a success? Please do not mention Thomas Edison as your answer.

Tip for best answer: M$1.10
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I think Nikola Tessla would qualify.

In his home country he could not get anyone to look at his induction motor, which today is used in many household appliances.

He should have received the Nobel Prize for the invention of the radio, but it was awarded to Marconi, even though he did not have original technology, but built upon others' work.

He invented X-ray technology and already had an article published about it when Roentgen announced he invented it...Tessla did not get credit.

He died not only penniless, but in terrible debt, even after holding many patents, discovering AC current, X-Rays, and many more things and even being able to generate electricity without wires... lighting bulbs 25 feet away.

Interestingly enough... he worked for Edison when he first came to America, and won the "AC vs. DC Current War" that was waged between them.

His dream was fulfilled in harnessing the power of Niagara Falls.

The Government confiscated all his notes upon his death... he was working on a "death ray" for them which was actually a particle beam weapon. They did not find a prototype. No one has access to his notes to this day.

He actually changed the world as we know it but many don't even know anything about him because he was not given credit for his discoveries and inventions in many cases.

There are many many things I didn't even mention... he was a very interesting individual.
