Who is the best Wide Receiver in NFL history?
As is the norm, this does not exclude pre-Super Bowl era wideouts. That brings players like Lance Alworth, Don Hutson, and RC Owens into play. Please take into account things like number of years played, their offensive system, the quarterback who threw him the ball, clutch catches in big games or playoff games, and era played in. If you want to make a top 3 or top 5 list, feel free, however please list the reasons for each player listed instead of just a 1-5. Thanks for taking the time to answer the question!

When I think of outstanding National Football LeagueWide Receivers, there are many that come to mind. Taking into account that most wide-outs with great statistics also played with great Quarterbacks or at least very good Quarterbacks, the following list is made up of those. Starting from the bottom and working my way to the top, and making note that I personally feel there are probably 20 equally talented all time Wide receivers I am going to concern myself with the following categories; speed, hands, after the catch yardage, blocking and team play. Note that missing from my list are Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald, both of whom 10 years from now will probably make this same list.
5 - Boyd Dowler - Green Bay Packers - Better than average speed, great hands - clutch performer - key QB was Bart Starr.
4 - Randy Moss - Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots - Speed - Hands - after the catch yardage - sometime a questionable teammate - key QBs were Duante Culpepper and Tom Brady
3 - Herman Moore - Detroit Lions - Size - Good, but not great speed - Clutch performer - great hands - size - Key qb was - Whatever average QB the Lions put on the field. I know this is a strange pick, but he had all the tools, but no great QB throwing to him.
2 - This is an off the wall choice because he is a tight end, but he did line up at wide out on occasion. John Mackey - Baltimore Colts - Great blocker, speed, size, after the catch yardage, ultimate team player and caught passes from Johnny Unitas.
1 - Raymond Berry - Baltimore Colts - The full package - Key QB was Johnny Unitas
