Who is the best Running Back in NFL history?

As is the norm, these running backs are not limited to the Super Bowl era. That means you can include the likes of Jim Brown, Hugh McEhlenny, and Gale Sayers. Please take into account yards per carry, their offensive system, their offensive line, how many years they played, and whether they were the proverbial "bell cow" of their entire offense. Feel free to post a top 3 or top 5 list, just make sure you give good reasons for each choice. Thanks for taking the time to answer!

This is a tough question to answer, but I will go with Barry Sanders of the Dedtroit Lions in a close vote over Jimmy Brown of the Celveland Browns, mostly because Barry was a human highlight reel. They both retired early while they were still healthy, and still with lots of yardage in their legs. Jimmy Brown left for the lights of Hollywood and either starred or appeared in many movies. He had roles with Raquel Welch in "1,000 Rifles" and in "Any Given Sunday" with Al Pacino. While on the football field. he blended power and speed, bowling over defensive backs and blasting past linebackers and linemen. He could run inside or around end. Barry on the other hand was quick and elusive. No defensive players wanted to take him on one on one because he would be made to look foolish, specially in the open field. Blocking for him was unique from other running backs because Barry usually wouldn't take the 4 or 5 yard hole and was looking to break every run for a TD. He head more runs over 20 yards from the line of scrimmage than any back and churned out the yardage in chunks. So, in my opinion you couldn't go wrong selecting either back, but fo sheer excitement and viewing pleasure, combine with a talented runner, I would have to say BARRY SANDERS!
