Who is the best professional poker player in your opinion?

I can never decide. Almost everyone says it's Phil Ivey. Then there's Doyle Brunson, a living legend of the game. I tend to go the route of Daniel Negreanu or Tom Dwan. Who do you think is the best? What does it take to be the best? Guts? Knowledge about the pot odds and implied odds? Should one play it safe and keep the pots small? Go for big pots? What do you think? I can't wait to hear your responses! And I'm so excited that Mahalo finally has a Poker Questions sister site! What about you?

My pick, if I had to choose, Tom "Durrrr" Dwan, star of High Stakes Poker:

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

It's very hard to name one person as the "best poker player" in the world. There are a number of players who are considered great, but they haven't won "the big one". Then again, not a lot of pros have been able to cash in on the big tournaments due to the number of amateurs. But in terms of consistency, I would have to pick Phil Ivey. That being said, I still remember the video clip below where he was severely bluffed out by Brad Booth.

There are a lot of good players around the world, one of the tough opponent is Dario Minieri from Italy and obviously Gus Hansen.
