Who is the best manager of all time?
Bobby Cox just retired as the manager of the Atlanta Braves and he's won a lot of games. Does he rank as one of the best of all time? Who else is on the list and who is the best? Some names that come to mind are Connie Mack, Tony LaRussa, John McGraw and Joe Torre. If there is anyone else, who would it be?

The best Major League Baseball manager of all time is Tony LaRussa in my opinion. Bobby Cox, Connie Mack and Joe Torre are certainly worthy of discussion, as well, but LaRussa has only been blessed with great talent in short stints throughout his 32 year career managing the Chicago White Sox from 1979 to 1986, the Oakland Athletics from 1986 to 1995, and the St. Louis Cardinals from 1996 to the present day. During this time, he has been named American League Manager of the Year in 1983, 1988 and 1992, the National League Manager of the Year in 2002, and a World Series Champion in 1989 and 2006. He has managed his teams to 13 post season appearances, including 5 World Series appearances and 11 League Championship Series (5 in AL and 6 in NL).
