Who is the best goalkeeper in the world today?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Gianluigi Buffon (Italy), Iker Casillas (Spain) and Shay Given (Ireland).
(Petr Cech is not the 'keeper he used to be, Edwin Van der Sar is too close to the end of his career).
In ascending order, I would go for :
3. Casillas
2. Given
1. Buffon

The Italian has it all - large frame, excellent positioning, and his reflexes are among the quickest in the game. He's very good under crosses too.
Buffon doesn't give up on a ball until it actually hits the back of the net.

He might be the difference if Italy find themselves in any penalty shootouts at this year's World Cup.

M$Good choices.
Do you want to say a bit about why you picked Casillas?
Casillas, has strung together dozens of memorable performances and legendary saves over the past years. With his superb reflexes and feline agility, he has built up a reputation for pulling off seemingly impossible point-blank saves.Add to that his commanding presence and organisational skills at the back, and it is easy to see why he enjoys such feted status.
If you quote something you should follow the Mahalo copy-paste guidelines, including clearly indicating what material is quoted and citing the source.

Good choice also.
I am intrigued you put Given as #2. Since I didn't ask you to explain who is the second best, I won't ask you to elaborate. Maybe we'll discuss Given another time. :)
I get to see Given more often, but do think he has a slight edge on Casillas. But yes, there could be another question there for the future!
