Who is the best band of all time to come out of Boston?
Boston has a long history of great music, but who can be considered Boston’s best band? The most obvious entry would be the band Boston, whose fame peaked in the 1980s. Aerosmith also has a claim to that title, with such an enduring career. But don’t forget other influential bands from the city, such as the J. Geils Band, 80’s pop icon The Cars, punk ska band The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and the rock band Godsmack. In your opinion, which band takes the title of Boston’s best band?

As much as I enjoy both The Cars and Aerosmith, a band that slightly edges the both of them out in my opinion is The Pixies.
They were perhaps a little too wacky / unusual to enjoy the same mainstream success as the two aforementioned acts, but their impact upon the world of music has in many ways been just as great.
The list of bands who have cited The Pixies as a major influence includes names such as Radiohead and Nirvana.
David Bowie even admitted to becaming personally depressed on the day that he heard of the band's split in 1993.
The Pixies' recording career lasted between 1987 and 1991, but they did reform in 2004 and have toured sporadically since.
Here's a couple of reasons why I think they might be deserving of the title of Boston's best ever band . . .
