National father of Taiwan is General and 1st. president Chiang Kai Chek (or Jiang Jieshi), he was the leader of the Kuomintang Chinese National Party and was also the leader of the Chinese goverment stablished in Nanjin in 1927.
After the defeat of the Nationalists at the hands of the Comunists in 1949 he and his goverment went in to exile to the island of Taiwan (Formosa). Chiang Kai Chek was president of Taiwan from 1949 until his death in 1975.
