The Oscars, are also officially known in the entertainment industry as the Academy Awards. This is usually given out to recognize the work of professions in the film industry such as directors, designers, special effects artists. This year, the Academy Awards in its 83rd year, will be held on 27 February.
This year also marks a special year in which the Oscars are hosting by young actors, rather than older, more accomplished actors. Anne Hathaway (of The Princesss Diaries fame) and James Franco (Spiderman, 127 Hours) were selected out of many to host the Oscars this year. Incidentally, James Franco is probably also the only Oscar host in the awards’ history to be nominated for an award (Best Actor, 127 Hours) and also be an Oscar host.
