Who is greatest rock journalist in music history?
I think the quality of pop/rock music journalism (including both reviews and interviews of artists) has gone down in recent years. Even once-respectable magazines like Rolling Stone are sinking under the allure of tabloid journalism in the effort to increase sales, and I think it's sad to see this. I rarely read music reviews and artist interviews anymore.
Am wondering...who do you feel is the greatest rock journalist of all time? What do you respect about this person's work?

I think Leslie Conway "Lester" Bangs (December 13, 1948 – April 30, 1982) was the greatest rock journalist in music history. He was also a musician and an author. in his lifetime Lester Bangs wrote for Creem, Rolling Stone and the Village Voice.
He was popular for the way he blew open his thoughts and that of other people. He was loved by lots of his readers and also missed too. Too bad he was gone too soon.
Some of his works are:
• The Greatest Album Ever Made
• Stranded on Astral Weeks
• Blondie (Fireside Book, 1980)
• Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung: The Work of a Legendary Critic
• Main Lines, Blood Feasts, and Bad Taste: A Lester Bangs
• The first piece for Rolling Stone
