Who is doing the biggest thinking on the Internet? (Mahalo is doing a new "answers" service that I'm trying out here on Twitter).

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I'm not sure if this is the 'biggest', but it is big: in the last few weeks, Amazon's Kindle 2 has really grabbed my attention -- for two specific reasons:

a) Much like Palm before them, the first attempt at the Kindle was an atrocity. However, again like Palm, they studied intently what they did wrong the first time around -- and the 2nd attempt was a *vastly* improved effort as a direct result. I was NOT a believer at all initially (I wrote several articles and blog posts about this) and I've done a complete 180 and am a very happy owner.

b) They have successfully averted disaster at the hands of Apple's iPhone AppStore. Last year, I personally sold a ton of books on the iPhone -- and almost none on the Kindle. I initially thought that the iPhone was a Kindle-killer as a result: your iPhone is always on you, it is always in your pocket -- so too, could all your books now travel with you in your pocket. If Apple had decided to really move heavily in the direction of making an 'iTunes for Books' experience, it could have been deadly to the Kindle.

However, by releasing the Kindle for iPhone, I think Amazon has cleverly averted this death. This was a bold move on their part -- it could heavily cannibalize sales of their newest product! Most established companies don't have the cajones to do something like that, never mind the speed with which they did it.

I think we're about to see lots of ideas coming out of the Whitehouse as America transitions into this new administration.

Obama utilized the internet for his campaign there is no doubt that he will utilize it during his administration.

Less than two months in we've already seen the new White House website and Recovery.gov he's stated that he wants to put more online as he works to make the government for transparent, we'll have to wait and see.

Mahalo Answers is certainly up there but there are a number of great businesses and startups doing different kind of thinking on the internet, so I am not sure a definitive answer can be given!
