who invented tissues?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Simple Answer: Kimberley Clark in 1926. That was the normal tissue used for whiping nose & stuff.

The modern tissue ( disposable tissue used for blowing your nose rather than a handkerchief ) was first invented by Kimberley-Clark in 1924-5 and marketed under the name Kleenex. They were first marketed for use in cleaning makeup but most people used them as handkerchiefs so they started marketing them that way...

There have been versions of the tissue for centuries - in Japan called washi - but Kleenex was the brand and style of the modern era.

You can often tell the first company to market a product, it's when the colloquy usage uses the brand...for example you understand what someone asked for when they say
"pass me a kleenex", its ubiquitous for tissue....a few other examples are 'going Scuba diving', 'making a Xerox' or 'having a Breville'

Hope this answers your very interesting question :)
