Tip for best answer: M$0.25

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

In 1883 John Michael Kohler enamelled a cast iron horse trough, but people had been bathing in wooden and metal tubs for years before that.
A bath is a large container for holding water in which a person may take a bath. Two main styles of bath tub are common:
Western-style bathtubs
Eastern style bathtubs

You would have to first define what is a "bath tub".

There are hot springs and waterfalls where humans have carved our seats, or have used naturally occurring features where water gathers as "pools" or "tubs" since before written history.

The archaeological record shows baths and tubs were common in ancient Greece (I have seen these with my own eyes), and bathing in a tub was common in ancient Egypt.

Prior to that, the written record gets pretty sketchy... due the the rarity of written languages back that far.

So bath tubs for humans to bathe in are at least as old as written language.
